Hey Neighbor!

succulent garden

A little deviation from Brooch Bouquets today, but so worth it!  My amazingly talented neighbors designed and constructed this succulent garden as a wedding gift… are you kidding me? Jim & Mary are not only my lovely neighbors but they are true treasure hunters! Always on the look out for a great deal or better yet the abandoned treasure left on the side of the road! They are such a great team… Mary comes up with the idea and Mr. Talent (Jim) figures out a way to make it happen, then Mary adds the final details…  this is a perfect example of their crafty work… in need of a wedding gift, they came up with the idea to make a succulent garden. Constructed from a piece of redwood the heart was created, planted with succulents (cuttings from her own garden) “we need a box”  left over wood was brilliantly turned into not only a box to carry the gift, but designed to be an herb garden… little bags of seeds with stamped spoons as markers, The wedding gift is complete! Oh did I mention the old leather belt Jim cut apart to make the boxes handles? They really are too much! Congrats to the lucky couple!

Custom Brooch Bouquet

Vintage Brooch Bouquet

Baubles and Brides bouquet

This Custom Brooch Bouquet is a true labor of love… the amazing Mother of the bride, Viviane contacted me determined to have one of my bouquets for her daughters February wedding in the Bahamas! No problem… except that we only had a few weeks to pull it off! I am always willing to except the challenge of a rush order,  if I have the stock or the bride has all her goodies ready to go.  Neither however was the case… Viviane did all the hunting of the new pieces while I did all the gathering of the vintage/antique pieces, the fact that she worked for FedEx was such a blessing! 63 emails, a dozen phone calls, countless sneak peeks, 4 shipments and a trip to meet the bride on a layover and… One very happy surprised bride with an over-the- top thankful mother!  What a delight is was to collaborate with you Viviane! Travel safe and congratulations!

Custom Brooch Bouquet

Brooch Bouquet

Sometimes you just know… My first contact with bride, Nicole was one of those times, She knew she wanted a custom Brooch Bouquet to carry at her winter wedding in Canada at an historical carriage house! She was going for a snow queen look! Well, if you know me, you know that I love the brides that think a bit out of the traditional wedding box! But more than that I am a sucker for brides willing to share their story with me… Nicole was and is one of those brides. She, along with her family & friends did the collecting and with each piece came a note about why it was chosen… precious! Also included were pieces of her mother’s velvet wedding dress that I was able to use on the underbelly.  She will be carrying so much love with her on February 15th! Thank you Nicole for including me in your love story!

Radiant Orchid

6 Dec

Color of the year

I have to admit I’m kind of excited about the 2014 color of the year… Pantone’s Radiant Orchid! Here is what they had to say in their press release, “Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple-one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.”  Ok, brides, designers and those of you who love color, how will you incorporate the gorgeous color into your lives?  I’m off to buy a scarf and of course some brooches and bling!

Falling in love bridal shower

A few months ago I shared that my precious son Scott had proposed to “The cute little redhead”  Sarah… With the wedding fast approaching (late Nov.) We just hosted her bridal shower… “Fall”ing in love! The group of us… the two mothers and two sisters created a romantic Fall themed, pumpkin filled,  yummy food, luncheon! The menu consisted of Roasted red pepper soup, Spinach salad, Fresh berries and Gruyere & rosemary biscuits.  Makes my mouth water all over again. Dessert was Pumpkin pie crumble and Chocolate toasted marshmallow cupcakes! What a lovely day celebrating Sarah! She was overwhelmed by the love a support of the 35+ ladies who were in attendance. Blessings all around! Stay tuned… she is going to be a stunning bride!

What a delight it was to work with the lovely McCall. She is one of those people that just light up the room with her smile! Plus it is always a treat for me to have a local bride and get to have face-to-face meetings! McCall and her mom did all the hunting for this beautiful pink brooch bouquet, each stem was then wrapped in shades of green for the just picked from the garden look!  I can’t wait to see her day of photos! Stay tuned! Oh, and a big thank you to Stephanie of Ribbons and Rust for the referral.

A Midsummer Nights Dream

a midsummer nights dream

movie under the stars

I’m re-capping a few Summer events, starting with my daughter’s 30th birthday… a movie night under the stars, Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream” to be exact… What a fantastic evening we all had, eating yummy food, sharing stories, watching the sun set over the ocean. Then snuggling under blankets after hitting the candy table and of course popcorn, a good movie night just would not be complete without popcorn?  So much Fun!!!
