Interactive Art at The Cosmopolitan

Interactive art @ Cosmopolitan
Early February was my annual trip to Las Vegas with my precious husband Thom and my dear friend and partner in crime: Stacie (Gatherings by Stacie) It is a week of non-stop meetings and trade show walking for my husband who is such a good sport to allow me to bring Stacie, we spend our days in our jammies catching up on work, resting, laughing, praying, sharing ideas for business and long heart to hearts about our families and life. Stacie even baked a cake! (not your typical trip to Vegas) When we do get out, The Cosmopolitan is one of our favorite places to play… This year was no exception, we wandered into the P3 Studio @ The Cosmo and found an interactive art project taking place, the artist in residence Jason Adkins shared his idea to take a photo of a piece art, cut that photo into 1 inch squares, numbered to match the 4×4″ gridded squares on the wall, the challenge was then to without seeing the chosen artwork, pick a 1″ piece of the photo and paint it on a 4×4″ square!! I do not paint! seriously! If it is not the walls of my house it is waaay out of my comfort zone, the fear of making a fool of myself was eased only by the whiskey cocktails…(San Remo @ Scarpetta’s) Stacie, on the other hand paints beautifully and jumped right in! Once painted, hang your piece on the grid. When the project was completed (about a week) Jason sent us a copy of the original: Sculpture by Jeff Koons titled, “Balloon Flower” and the interactive piece. All that to say, it was such a great and fun experience!!! Gonna do this at our next party! Oh, if you count the squares in the top row, I was #7. Don’t forget to make someone smile today!
